01:46 pm It's only when you're so far removed from yourself, when you're far enough away to look at yourself from the outside, that you can get a perspective on what really matters. I mean, sure, there's stuff going on, and it doesn't feel great, but you realise that a lot of it is pretty insignificant stuff really.
And then you look at other people, and when they start talking, I mean really talking, when you get past the small talk of "hi, how was your day?", and people start telling you what they really think and feel, and what they're having to deal with, that you realise what really matters. It's a very humbling experience. Current Mood: contemplative

10:24 am - Website Stuff I decided to buy hosting yesterday, £40 for a year at Brinkster. But I'm beginning to have doubts about it now. I don't even know if they support ASP.NET v2.0 for one thing, and they're giving me crap about my address being wrong. The site claims there's a 90 day money back guarantee on it, so maybe I should do that if I'm not pleased. I mean seriously, it doesn't even have SQL Server included. It's got Mysql, but I'm not yet sure how easy it is to connect to from ASP.NET.
I updated my site to ASP.NET anyway though. I figure, I can keep running it from my own computer if this Brinkster crap doesn't work out. It's a little confusing at first, but it's worth it, the amount of stuff that's just so much easier, like templates and breadcrumbs. Maybe one of these days I'll actually add some content to the thing. Don't hold your breath though.
I'm wondering if I should think about some new years resolutions while I'm at it. Never done it before, but it might be quite useful to have some short term goals to work at. Let's see..
- Contribute a bit more to OSS. Bit difficult to think how, since I don't know anything like C/C++ well. But maybe I could contribute back some PHP to Gallery or something. Might be quite fun.
- Learn to cook more stuff. I really dislike the crap they call ready meals in supermarkets these days. The ideal meal would be
- Cheap
- Good portions
- Tasty
but supermarkets these days tend to be "choose two".
- Take at least one photo per day. I haven't taken any photos in what seems like forever. Not any that I actually like anyway. I took quite a few over christmas though, mostly of Luke and Daniel, my cousins. I might post some of them here if I can remember what I did with my camera cable.
- Stop posting to Livejournal privately! Ok, maybe not completely, but most posts I mark private need not be.
That should be just about enough to go on. Current Music: Our Lady Peace - The World On A String

03:08 pm Apparently my ISP has webcams up of all their offices. That's so weird, I wonder if they employees even know about it. Maybe it's just one of those tactics to get everyone working harder. Watching porn again, Mr Anderson? The entire world can see you! *evil laugh* Current Mood: amused

11:37 am - DS! I bought a Nintendo DS with Nintendogs :D I did consider getting a PSP, but most all of the games for it look like like general racing/fighting games crap, whereas DS will soon have Lost In Blue.
